What is Yakumetsu (Disaster Annihilation)?

Generally, there are three types of prayers related to disaster: Yakuyoke: Warding off disasters Yakuo: Shedding disasters Yakubarai: Exorcising disasters

These aim at distancing oneself from disaster, but the disaster itself remains. Unnecessary worries may arise, such as the fear of picking up disaster if you go somewhere.

At Byodoji, we pray for the complete annihilation of disasters using a method called "Yakumetsu" using Fudou-sama's wisdom fire. This method allows you to live without worrying about disaster and without the need to even remember its existence. This is a unique practice that the chief priest suddenly started in 2016, and we believe it makes us the only temple in the world that prays for "Yakumetsu" (Disaster Annihilation).
