Online Shakyo Dedication

Written on screen, offered straight to the Buddha

No paper or brush needed. Write each character on screen, and your finished shakyo is offered before the Buddha at Byodoji. If it's your first time, begin with a short name-recitation.

For First-Time Visitors

It is less about writing beautifully, and more about meeting one character at a time

Shakyo is a practice of copying the sutra one character at a time, receiving the Dharma and settling the mind. Even on a screen, the time you spend with each character does not change.

  1. 1Choose a short text so you can finish the first session.
  2. 2Follow the guide on screen and write each character without rushing.
  3. 3After finishing, you can add a name or wish and dedicate the writing.
