Earn TOK by joining in prayer
Zuiki means joining the priests in prayer with the same heart. In Japan, gathering with family and relatives at a funeral or memorial service and praying together has long been called "doing zuiki": simply being present at a service is itself zuiki. There is a teaching that merit grows as more people pray together, and Byodoji accepts zuiki participation online as well.

After each service, Byodoji gives TOK points to everyone who joined in prayer. TOK represents toku, or merit, and lets you see the merit you have accumulated as a number. Accumulated TOK can be used for a limited number of purposes, including booking a private online meeting with the chief priest. Once you reach 1,000,000 TOK, you may ask the chief priest to officiate at your own funeral or that of a family member. Please contact us for details about funeral services.

For first-time participants, here is the flow from registration to the end of the service, in order. Nothing needs to be prepared.
Registration opens 10 to 30 minutes before the service begins. When it opens, the service name and the participation form appear at the top of this page. If you are not signed in, please sign in first.
On the form, check your participant name and choose whether to join anonymously and whether to appear in the participant list after the service. Both can be changed after you join.
Pressing the button opens a confirmation screen. Check the service name and your participant name, press once more, and your attendance is recorded.
When your attendance is recorded, the screen shows that you are participating, along with your seat number and the time you joined. No special etiquette is needed after that. Turn your heart to the service and pray together with the head priest. If you are unsure what to do, recall one good thing you encountered today and simply feel grateful for it.
When the service ends, registration closes and TOK is granted to everyone who joined. You can see the merit you have accumulated in your history at any time.
Joining your heart to the prayer — "how wonderful", "how gratifying" — is the only etiquette. If anything is unclear, please feel free to contact us.
