Green rice harvest for shimenawa making and dinner at Emoto
As part of Byodoji Temple’s 2026 From-Rice-Field Shimenawa Project, we will cut rice while it is still green for use in sacred straw ropes. Work begins early in the morning.

On July 19, 2026, we will cut rice while it is still green for Byodoji Temple’s shimenawa making. Work begins at 5:00 and is scheduled to finish around 15:00.
Participation is 1,000 yen, including insurance, breakfast, and lunch. The temple will prepare the tools needed for the work, including sickles.
A dinner gathering will be held at Emoto in the evening. Meet at Byodoji Temple at 17:30 for the shuttle bus. Dinner begins at 18:00 and costs 7,500 yen.
